12 tags of 2016 - april - be your beautiful self

This year's tags have featured remix techniques that Tim has featured over the years. This month features two techniques that are totally new to me, as most of the previous techniques have been and I was excited to attempt paper mosaic.

I used the same technique for my background as Tim did, although I added some Brushed Pewter Distress Stain for some shimmer! I used some decorative tape for an accent and an idea-ology pen nib for the butterfly's body. The star and accents are all idea-ology as well. I painted the grouted butterfly wings with black paint before adhering the mosaic pieces. I distressed these pieces with some Aim Dark Earth Weathering Powder, it's for distressing model trains, another hobby of mine!

Some more supplies I used:  Tim Holtz Alterations Fanciful Flight, Distress Paper Mosaic Kit, Distress Stains, Ephemera Kits, Vial labels, Jute, white craft paint, kraft tags, idea-ology decorative tape, Distress Inks, etc...

Thanks for reading! I cannot wait until the next tag! See my previous tags here, here, and here!

  1. Very, very nice. The details on the butterfly are wonderful. Painting the grout with black was a great idea. I like how it is similar to Tim's tag, but very original as well.
