A Myriad of Uses for One Stamp Set!

I fell in love with the designs for the Twelve Days stamps from the Essentials by Ellen set. when I first saw them before the holidays and I picked them up instantly. Unfortunately, due to a move, I was unable to use the set for its intended use. I didn't let that get me down, however, and I've since found many ways to use these images. I love getting stamp sets that I can use over and over for different cards. This card, created for the MFT Challenge Blog's Color Challenge #15, does just that. I've turned the pipe into a saxophone and created a musical scene for a family member that loves music. I'm a DJ myself so I love when my love of music combines with my love of creating!

For this card, I used Lawn Fawn's Banner dies for the card itself and stenciled a pattern from Teresa Collins with Faded Jeans Distress Ink. I used Bazzill Kraft paper for the base of the card I used a piece of blue card stock from my stash for the first layer and some Distress Watercolor Paper for the circle layer as well as for the sentiment.

For the stamp and details, I used Twelve Days by Ellen Hutson, Lawn Fawn's Milo's ABCs, and stamped my image with Antique Linen Distress Ink, a technique that I saw first demonstrated by Kristina Werner. I colored in my images with various Distress Inks (Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Fired Brick, Barn Door, Faded Jeans, and Antique Linen) and used them to watercolor with a Wink of Stella Glitter brush, a technique I saw in a video by Jennifer McGuire, I love watching creative people work! However, I'm not a great watercolor artist and I knew I needed more detail so I decided to go in with a pen and add detail after the image had dried.
