My color palette as of late has been very tame when it comes to sticking with the same hue. There hasn't been a card I've presented that hasn't strayed off its particular part of the spectrum. This time, for a color challenge from the My Favorite Things Blog, that had to change. I went outside of what I've typically done, which was pick a color and stick with that color, and chosen colors based on the colors for the contest. It really helped my creativity. I haven't been making cards for too long so this was a fun learning process. I got the idea to include flowers from the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. I decided to combine challenges this week and see what I could come up with!
The source yet again of the buttons are from my grandmother's collection. It's come in handy once again, I do not have many embellishments (I'm adding it to my shopping list right now for Michaels' next sale) but I have plenty of buttons.
The inside of the card is one of my favorite that I've done. It's simple and clean but it still carries the same style and color scheme as the front of the card. I stamped a happy birthday sentiment in green ink from Ink It Up! but I'm in dire need of some nice quality inks. I'm not sure if I want to start with Tim Holtz's Distress Inks or the new My Favorite Things Hybrid Inks... oh, I wish I had a larger crafting budget!
As you can tell by the bounty of springtime plants, I'm so glad it's spring here, New England is not the best place to live when it comes to winters. They can be tough and this past winter was especially cold and rough. This card was partly inspired by the wonderful feeling that spring brings to us all!
This card was made for the My Favorite Things Color Palette Challenge as well as the challenge from Simon Says Stamp. I love both of their challenges and their prizes aren't that bad either! The colors are so representative of springtime and spring flowers helps bring in the season. This past winter had been quite the cold spell here as I mentioned before and these colors really help to bring in the spring full force.
