Buttons Buttons & More Buttons!

For my first card-making challenge, my initial inspiration came from the buttons that I got from my grandmother. For this challenge for the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog, I decided to look at my newly acquired button collection once again as the challenge called for you to look in your stash for something old and something new. I've been visiting craft like crazy lately to stock up but that doesn't mean I have a lack of supplies hoarded away.

Below, there's a snap of the card from a frontal view, I went very pink last time so I guess blue was inevitable! I seriously think that the only thing that isn't blue is the kraft cardstock and I even sponged that with blue ink. Apparently, I like to saturate my cards with color.

Here's a close-up on some details of my card. I sponged the balloons to give them some depth, I used  paint samples for them and they looked too clean without some ink on them. I tied on some thread and wrapped it about ten times around the bottom of the balloon to give it the most realism a two dimensional ballon could hope for. One more thing: I could put buttons on everything and all things!

I kept it very simple on the inside. I used my scraps from the front for most of it. I love the Martha Stewart Crafts Edger Punch, it's so versatile. I can use it on a lot of different projects. It's the first edge punch I've gotten and I have a feeling I'm going to want to purchase them all...

For this card, I grabbed two of my distress markers to do most of the stamping grunt work. They did the sentiments as well as the watercolor paint job. They are so versatile, I love versatile things and I love the word versatile and calling things versatile, but yeah, amazing markers.

Here's the sketch that inspired this creation:
